Waste materials were sprayed into the air to be collected by floating princes who weren't really nationalist, but lay in darkened rooms and thought about slamming doors. Of course I am generalizing, but it remains to be seen if the remains of the rain can be seen at all in such an atmosphere, where translucent earth fudge can fall from the sky and feed multitudes of crawling tractorbaits if not intercepted.
