Nine Figs in the Flapjack ch.6, p.7

Rubberene Biogrip
For those children whose parents were too poor to afford the more desirable official Six Million Dollar Man doll, there was the Captain Matt Youth doll.  Whereas the former had many wonderful attachments and features, including the famed “karate chop action,” the latter’s only advertised characteristic was its “rubberene biogrip,” although a splashy blurb on the box mentioned the oversized gun included with the doll.
“Daddy, what is ‘rubberene?’” a child asked after seeing the Captain Matt Youth television commercial.
“Well,” Daddy replied, laying aside that week’s edition of the local paper, “It’s like rubber, only it’s synthetic, like plastic.”
The child nodded thoughtfully, turning back to the TV in time to see Jimmy Carter shake Donna Summer’s hand.
